Writes the GRUB boot code to the master boot record of /dev/sda so the firmware can start it. This is destructive and low-level: a wrong target disk can leave a system unbootable. Normally you only re-run it after replacing a disk or installing a new bootloader. Use the --efi-directory form on UEFI machines.
