varnishadm ban 'req.url ~ ^/api/'

Adds a ban rule that makes Varnish discard cached objects whose URL matches the regular expression, forcing a refetch on the next request. Bans apply gradually as objects are looked up, so big caches purge over time rather than instantly. Check the ban list with varnishadm ban.list.
