Normally ngrok forwards to localhost, but the target can be any address, so this puts the web interface of a LAN device, for example a NAS or camera at 192.168.1.2, on a public ngrok URL. Both machines must be reachable from this host. Anyone with the public URL can reach the service, so restrict access for sensitive devices.
